This video is basically a description of how Plato’s Allegory of the Cave resembles inside. The video is straightforward, mentioning all of the basic elements of the cave such as the fire, the chained prisoners, the images projected in front of them, and the low wall built behind them. Using a modern day visual of labels, arrows, and curves, the creators try to represent the Allegory of the Cave. The video mentions that they have been there since childhood, grew up inside the cave, watched the images, believed only what they saw in front of them, but later forgets to mention the great escape into sunlight. In Plato’s view, any prisoner that escapes their chains and goes into sunlight will return and be killed. In this video, never is it mentioned that anyone breaks free of their chains and ventures into the outside world. The video focuses only on the setup of the cave and the prisoners forced transfixion of images. Even if they wanted to look away, they wouldn’t be able to due to their chains.
There are no words from Plato blatantly used in the video, but the music in the background and the tone of the narrator give a gloomy and dismal feeling, similar to the feeling proposed by the prisoners inside the cave. I believe the video is an adequate way to understand Plato’s view, but not entirely. If wanting to know more about the description of the cave and perhaps form a decent visual of what it may have looked like, this is your video. Otherwise, there are many elements left out. The fire, the puppeteers, and images reflected are used only as description in this video, where in Plato’s work these are symbolic and have much meaning. It is hidden in this video. Also, there is no understanding of the consequences of leaving the cave, or the effects of leaving. In this video, they are unable to express the significant meanings and only cover the more descriptive aspects.

The images of the fire and the prisoners represent the allegory of the cave. Plato uses the fact that people know nothingelse as the allegory when he writes. In the movie, the only thing visible to the eyes of the people in the cave is their shadows because they can not move. The film does not use any of Plato's words but does portray a picture of a world similar to that of which he talks about. Plato does talk about what will happen if a person is to leave the cave, but in the video it implies that no-one gets to leave.
